Soma Pramanik: Triumph over Illiteracy, A Journey of Empowerment at Vishwasi Sangati ALE Centre, Beldanga

Mrs. Soma Pramanik is 30 years old woman. She is coming from Ashrompara village of Beldanga, Murshidabad dt., West Bengal. She was born and brought up in a Hindu family. Her father was a rickshaw driver. He would earn a little amount and it was not possible for her father to feed the family and also meet the need for education. Because of this, she could not go to school. She is married and have two chidren. But sadly few years later, she lost her husband.

After that, she faced financial problem and because of illiteracy she was not getting any work also. That’s why she began to work as a maid servant. Years passed by, she also gave her daughter in marriage. Then one day, while she was walking on the road she saw that some old age women are going somewhere with books. She asked them very curiously where they are going.

Then they told her about Vishwasi Sangati ALE centre. Hearing them, she also thought to enroll her name there and she does it. From then on, she continued to attend the centre and learning alphabets and digits. Slowly, with the help of the teacher she is learning how to read and write. Now she can do her own signature and read and write something slowly. And she is very much thankful to Vishwasi Sangati ALE centre for their help and support in learning.
